There is no way to transform a pass from single-use to multi-use or vice-versa. |
After a pass has been distributed, you may determine that the pass type needs to be limited to installation on a single device, or that a pass type that is limited to a single installation needs to be passed to additional devices. Currently, there is no way to change this attribute of the pass.
Important questions to consider prior to distributing a pass that may help you determine if passes should be single or multi-use:
- Are users expected to frequently move between devices?
- multi or single
- Are passes personalized or do they contain sensitive data?
- single
- Is a pass is appropriate for anyone under a certain group?
- multi
If a pass has already been distributed, Airship recommends making a new pass and leaving distributed passes as is until the associated data is no longer valid. Once that occurs consider updating the pass with new content or education content to guide the users next install or what to do with the current pass.
In addition, if you have individual passes with associated back-end data to identify users to passes, you can assign Tags to passes, which allows modification to multiple passes simultaneously. Thus you can bulk expire or update groups of individual passes in one call.
