  • Hi Chnakaya,

Generally what we recommend to users to is integrate Named Users into their application, so that you will have a common identifier between your system and Urban Airship. This Named User, then, you can integrate into your system so that you know who that user is, their details, etc., which may include their email address.

When the user uninstalls the application from their device, you will be able to consume that uninstall event from Urban Airship Connect into your system. Assuming you have integrated Named Users into your app, you will be able to parse the events from Connect and know who uninstalled the app from their device.

Since you have this data now, you can take that information into your email system, and send an email to that user.

  • Hi Michael Halka,

What are steps we need to follow to send email when app is uninsatall using named users and uninstall event from Urban Airship Connect.
I was confusing how to start it.

Please provide the below information of named users implementation for uninstall event
    1. What are things we need to do inside my app in android platform
    2. What are things we need to do through Java client API
    3. What are things we need to do while working urban airship connect API

  • Hi Chnakaya,

It is up to you to set up the sending email bit. Since there are many email providers, there are no one set of instructions to integrate it properly.

At a high-level, you will need your system to collect the uninstall event, and your system will need to take that data of who uninstalled the app from Urban Airship and tie that user back to your CRM. Once you have that, it is up to your email service to send an email to that user.

For the Named User integration, please refer to the link I pasted previously in my first response, as well as the Platform docs for Android.

You don't need to perform anything in the Java Client API. Just ensure you are collecting Uninstall events from Connect, setting up Named Users in your app such that you have a common identifier between Urban Airship and your CRM. Once you have that common identifier, it will be up to your system to parse the Named User that gets returned in the Connect event and trigger an email to that user from your email service.

  • Hi Chnakaya,

The CRM is the database or system you use to manage your customer profile (First/Last Name, email address, etc.).
