GCM support

HI


We have a legacy application which has GCM xamarin SDK integrated to the android app

Client doesn't want to migrate to FCM now and wanted to do at a later point of time. 

Is there any guide for enabling GCM API Key. I see the guide is for firebase (FCM)

Also I don't see GCM dashboard on google

    Hi Lee,

    Sorry for the late response. 

    Google has already disabled the ability to set up new GCM accounts. If you have an existing GCM account, and you want to integrate it with Urban Airship, you can get your API Key in the google console: https://developer.clevertap.com/docs/find-your-gcm-sender-id-gcm-api-server-key

    But you should be aware that Google is shutting down GCM and it will stop working altogether this coming April. Any integration or functionality with us or any other service will stop working, so I highly recommend starting the migration now, so you are not caught off guard.

    From Google:

    "As of April 10, 2018, Google has deprecated GCM. The GCM server and client APIs are deprecated and will be removed as soon as April 11, 2019. Migrate GCM apps to Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), which inherits the reliable and scalable GCM infrastructure, plus many new features. See the migration guide to learn more." (link)
