User cohort uploading from Amplitude to Airship seems to be broken?

Hello all!

We are new Airship users. We are currently on the Engage Starter Plan with RTDS enabled (free trial).

We need to upload user cohorts from Amplitude to Airship to be able to send push notifications to the specific segments of our users.

We've done all integration instructions on both sides:

https://docs.airship.com/platform/ios/getting-started/

https://docs.airship.com/partners/amplitude/

https://help.amplitude.com/hc/en-us/articles/214099178

Next, we tried to sync a test cohort.

According to Amplitude, the cohort synchronization process was successful, but the cohort does not display in the Airship (we looked for it in Audience -> Lists). See attached screenshots.

Need help.

  • Hello

The Amplitude/Airship Integration currently uses Tag Groups to set tags which correspond to Amplitude Cohorts. You will want to make sure you have created the "amplitude" tag group on your Airship project/s as stated in "Step 4" of the "How It Works" section of Amplitude's documentation:

    https://help.amplitude.com/hc/en-us/articles/214099178#h_464ec350-1991-48d8-9ac6-50c35b09dbf2

Be sure to correctly name the Tag Group group key (ie: "amplitude") and Do Not Check the "Allow tags to be set only from the server" option.

I will note that an older version of this integration did make use of lists, but current implementations use the Tag Groups.

  • Hello, Brian!

    Thanks for your reply!

We already have a Tag Group with "amplitude" Group Key as required by the Amplitude documentation (see the attached screenshot).

    Any other ideas?

Not fully understood this. Where exactly should users loaded from Amplitude be displayed in the Airship interface?

  • All tags set from Amplitude and synced, will be prefaced with "[Amplitude]" and then named with the cohort. You can then search for the various cohort tags where tags are used in the Dashboard, for example as a target audience:

    Or in the Segment Builder:

They will not appear in "Lists"

  • Brian, thank you!

Everything works as you described. It turns out that we were looking in the wrong place) This point is not obvious from the documentation.
