Can I reset opted out device

While testing - I've opt-ed out my device connected with one user account (I was testing the opt-out feature).
Now, on the same iPhone I'm not receiving any push notifications regardless the fact which user am I loggged in as.

Is there any way I can reset my device, so I can get opted-in again? Or do I need a new iPhone?

  • Hi Malgosia,

You don't need a new iPhone to receive push again.

All you simply need to do, is navigate to the "Settings" app on your iPhone.

Then, navigate to the "Notifications section and find your app.

Once you've found and clicked on your app in the list, you'll be able to opt back in to receive push notifications again.

  • Hi Michael,

My settings allow Push notifications. It was always the case. The opt out is set at the level of UA itself.

  • Malgosia,

Ah, then that means there could be something else at play that is setting your device to inactive.

Typically, if your iOS device is becoming inactive in your Urban Airship app, that means that we're receiving some kind of feedback from Apple stating that either:

    A) The app has been uninstalled from the device OR

    B) Apple is rejecting your Device Token due to the device being in the wrong environment (Development app deployed to Production, or vice versa)

During development, it is usually option B above.

I would suggest taking a look at the following Support Article to make sure that everything in your app is set up correctly.

    Rejected Device Tokens

Additionally, if you can let me know which App Key you're testing with, that will help with troubleshooting this issue. If you know your Channel ID as well, that will definitely help see what is going on with your device.

  • Malgosia,

I can see that your Channel is indeed being rejected by Apple.

Please make sure your app is built using the right configuration, otherwise you'll continue to run into this error.

Again, to fix the issue, please read through the Rejected Device Token article.
