Remove addressable users from UA

Hi

We are using urban airship Engage Starter Plan to send push notification in our android and iOS application.

Ours is a hybrid Ionic Cordova application and we are using Urban airship Cordova plugin

Very recently we saw a sudden spike in the number of addressable users on UA platform for our iOS application,

but upon checking our databases and iTunes analytic reports most the user seems illegitimate or may have never used the application

We only send push notification to logged in users but the recent UA reports shows that there are a whole lot of addressable users of the application.

Is there any way to remove these addressable users which are not real application users or maybe some changes in implementation so that we don’t exhaust our addressable user limit to illegitimate users or older accounts.

    Hi David,

    Thank you for writing in to the Urban Airship Support Forum regarding your Addressable Audience.

    Analytics from iTunes or otherwise usually do not match up with counts for your Addressable Audience. We calculate an Addressable User as a software installation on a device managed by Urban Airship. If these are legitimate devices that are able to receive push notifications, then they are included in the Addressable User count; whether or not they are logged in to your app doesn't impact this metric.

    You can use our Channel Uninstall API if you'd like for inactive users to not be counted as installed, but please keep in mind that if a user you've uninstalled opens your app, they'll become active again and get counted towards your Addressable Audience.
